Who We Are



Charles McGinley

Charles McGinley is the senior partner in the firm having joined Gray & Co in 1978. Charles gained his law degree from Strathclyde University and has a wealth of experience in this field. Charles started to specialise as an immigration practitioner in 1988 and has over 25 years of experience. He is a member of the Scottish Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association and the Law Society of Scotland’s Immigration and Asylum Law Sub-Committee. He is a founder member of the Glasgow Immigration Law Group (now known as Glasgow Immigration Practitioners’ Group).

In 2009 Charles was appointed Convenor of the Law Society of Scotland’s Immigration Law Specialists Panel. He is also an appointed Peer Reviewer for the Law Society of Scotland.

In addition to his consulting with clients and chamber work, Charles has convened several Update Seminars for the Law Society of Scotland in Immigration and Asylum Law, and contributed to other Update Seminars and provided papers at numerous Seminars on Immigration Law to include family law aspects of Immigration Law. Charles has also contributed to Seminars conducted by the Legal Services Agency to train Immigration Caseworkers and Solicitors and others.

He has contributed Articles to various Immigration Law Journals and periodicals and previously spent time as the SCOLAG Immigration Law Editor.

Charles was a member of the Glasgow Immigration Law Group which assisted the Law Society of Scotland to prepare the current published Guidelines for Immigration Practitioners.



Roisin Kieran

Roisin is the second partner in the firm having joined Gray & Co in 2008. Roisin gained her law degree from Strathclyde University in 2005 followed by her Diploma in Legal Practice from Glasgow Graduate School of Law in 2006.

After graduating, Roisin embarked upon a two year traineeship gaining experience in residential conveyancing, wills, Powers of Attorney and Executries. She continues to practice in these areas at Gray & Co.

Roisin has expertise in in all areas of UK Immigration, Nationality, Human Rights and EU Law and regularly attends at the Glasgow Asylum and Immigration Chamber.

Charles and Roisin have conducted numerous Asylum, Human Rights and Immigration Appeals before Immigration Judges, the Asylum and Immigration Tribunal. They also represent clients for Judicial Review Petitions and Application for Leave to Appeal at the Court of Session. They provide advice and representations to clients on all applications made to the Home Office, and to UK Overseas posts for Entry Clearance in terms of the Immigration Rules and Statutes, as well as providing general advices on all immigration and nationality matters.
